Word Study: Alphabetical Order

*Note: If you have already purchased my Word Study and Mechanics Bundle, you will note that the Period Set is already assigned the organizational letter of "I." When I added this set, organizationally I wanted it to be with the original Word Study sets and therefore have assigned it with the organizational letter of "I." However, if you have already purchased the bundle and would like to purchase the heteronyms set, please email me at themodernmontessoriguide@gmail.com and I will provide you with the version assigned with the letter "P" instead.
The direct aim of alphabetizing is to familiarize the child with the alphabetical order of letters and to apply this knowledge in arranging words accordingly.
The indirect aims include:
Contents:
Pgs. 2-5: Presentation Suggestions Lesson Resources
Pg. 6: Possible Extensions
Pgs. 7-18: Alphabetical Order Sorts I1-I12
Pg. 19: Alphabetical Order Task Cards 1-4
Pgs. 20-23: Alphabetical Order Sorts Controls
Pg. 24: Terms of Use
Suggestions for Storage - Presentation Suggestions Pages: I recommend printing the presentation suggestions and extension ideas and housing them in plastic sleeves within a binder. Any additional resources (key experience cards, alphabet strip, etc.) can be placed inside the sleeve as well for easy access when it’s time to present.
Suggestions for Storage - Controls: I suggest printing these out and placing them in sleeves within a binder as well. As the students complete sorts, they can then easily reference the controls to check their work.
Suggestions for Storage - Sorts: I recommend printing these out on cardstock and laminating them if you are expecting extended use. Each card within a particular sort is color-coded and labeled in the bottom right-hand corner. Place all the cards within a particular sort (ex: O2) in an envelope, plastic container, or drawer system. Be sure to label whichever storage option you choose. This will allow the students to independently select their work.
