Word Study: Root Words and Suffixes Matching Cards
The direct aim of the roots and suffixes word study is to help children understand that adding a suffix to the end of a root word alters the meaning of the word. The suffix can also change the function of the word (ex: write [verb] writer [noun])

Pgs. 3-18: Roots and Suffixes Sorts C1-C8 (Black and White)
Pgs. 19-34: Roots and Suffixes Sorts C1-C8 (Colored)
Pgs. 35-36: Roots and Suffixes Sorts C1-C8 Controls
The black and white and colored sets are interchangeable. Use whichever meets the needs of your students best. The colored cards act as an additional visual cue to differentiate the roots and suffixes. The black and white cards can be printed on a particular color of paper to differentiate them from other word study sets.
This set contains 112 Root/Suffix matches.
I recommend printing the materials on cardstock and laminating them for extended use.
